New year, new resolutions.
I know it’s a bit late in the game with three weeks of January having already passed, but at the end of the year I wanted to collect myself a bit and really try to figure out what I wanted to do before making any announcements about anything.
To be honest I’ve bounced around a lot between different story projects over the past year, and though I had planned to self-publish something, it never materialized because I never found something I wanted to stick with. But this year I’m going to change that.
I don’t have set dates yet (largely because I’m not 100% of the turn around time for editors or cover artists), but I’m planning to start launching a series of short stories around March. These stories will be of the space opera variety and introduce you to a setting that I’m going to expand on over time.
As these stories are released, I will also start putting together a site that details the races and locations of the world, so that readers can learn more about it.
My secondary project is a co-written story I’m working on with a friend of mine that is both an urban fantasy and superhero story based very loosely on Irish mythology. I can’t really give you any more information than that at the moment, and unfortunately I don’t have a timetable for when this story will be released because we’re still in the drafting phase. That being said, I expect it will launch towards the end of this year.
In the immediate future I’m going to be putting together a mailing list, which I expect to have up within a week. Once it’s active, any of you who are interested in hearing about the releases of my work can sign up.
I will also be looking for beta readers. I’m going to be posting further announcements about this, but if being a beta reader is something that sounds interesting to you, feel free to contact me on one of my social media accounts or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org (make sure you use “Beta Reader” as the subject).
Of course, I will also be continuing to post my Writing Advice articles on this site, and you can expect more of those to start popping up within the next week.
I’m excited for this year, and I hope you’re excited to see some new pieces of fiction from me. Happy New Year, and I wish you all a great 2016 as well!
