Unfortunately, for those hoping for a return to TV or perhaps a Netflix style mini-series, this will not be the case. Since Joss Whedon’s cult show went off the air, the story of Firefly has been fleshed out in the feature film Serenity as well as a variety of different comic books, the plot of which mostly filled in what happened between the end of the TV series and the beginning of the film.
In January the crew of Serenity will be returning to the comic book realm. Leaves In The Wind picks up where Serenity left off, and we now get to see the repercussions of Mal’s decision to reveal the Alliance’s link to the Reavers. The story is set nine months after the events of the film, and apparently in this time Jayne has left the crew and Zoe is pregnant with Wash’s child. In an interview about the comic, Zack Whedon reveals that the story might also darker than Firefly, which was known for its comedic elements.
Leaves In The Wind is set to hit comic book stores at the end of January, and I for one am excited to see where the story goes from here.
