NaNo Pencil Update

Hey all, so as I said prior to the start of this year’s NaNoWriMo, I would be writing the entirety of my 50,000 words in pencil, since Snapple says that the average pencil can write 50,000 words. So here are some updates.

On the first night of writing, the pencil measured in as such:

Currently, after over 6,000 words, we’ve withered down about a quarter of an inch, maybe a bit more:

And yes, I do realize that at roughly 6,000 or so words I am behind schedule. But don’t worry because I’m not! I’m still fairly confident that I can come out ahead on this. I’ve done it before, in January in fact, when I set out to write 50,000 words, wrote nothing for the first two weeks, and then ground it all out in a series of 5,000 word days. I should also note that I have written over 6,000 words, but my word count is inexact, since I haven’t typed up a lot of my handwritten draft. I possibly also should have waited to write this post until I had over 9,000 words…
